About the painting
The lonely paratrooper on this canvas is already on his way to the beckoning, eternal light –standing a whirlpool of dark shapes and colors drawing, as it were, the viewer’s eye. Has he realized yet that he has already perished? The road to a heroic death was, for many, a short one.
