About the painting
While doing research at the Airborne War Cemetery in Oosterbeek, the artist was struck by the young Royal Canadian Air Force pilot J. G. Wills’ tombstone. He was twenty-one years old when he perished in September 1944 over Dutch soil. This work honors his sacrifice and bravery.
